Loughborough Lightning winger Fancy Bermudez has been selected in Canada’s 14-player travelling squad for the next two stops of the 2026 HSBC SVNS Series in Singapore, beginning January 31, and Perth, Australia, starting February 7.
Bermudez made her debut for Lightning in November’s 19-12 Round 2 PWR victory over Sale Sharks, having signed in the summer from Saracens Women.
The Edmonton-born outside back’s starring role in her country’s run to the final of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, as well as having represented the national team in XV’s in the 2025 Rugby World Cup.
“We are really excited to welcome some familiar players back to the team,” said Head Coach Jocelyn Barrieau.
“Young players are still being selected and pushing for spots on the roster but having some veterans back playing for a team and with teammates they care so much about has everyone very excited heading into Singapore and Perth.”
“The leadership of Olivia Apps and Alysha Corrigan should never be underestimated,” said Barrieau.
“The fancy footwork of Fancy Bermudez and everything else she brings as a core member of the squad, along with Taylor Perry, who was part of the Olympic team in Paris and is coming off a very successful Rugby World Cup campaign, adds tremendous value.”
