Versatile prop forward Curphey juggles her role as a rugby player with her job as a quantity surveyor for Balfour Beatty having graduated from her Commercial Management and Quantity Surveying degree at Loughborough University.
Her Lightning debut came way back in 2021 against Saracens as a replacement, and her first start came the following season at home against Sale Sharks in 2022.
Capable of propping on both sides of the scrum, Curphey has become a valuable asset to Lightning and prior to that, Loughborough University too.
Unfortunately a hugely promising 2024/25 season was cut short by a syndesmosis ankle injury against Harlequins. Curphey’s return came in the 2025/26 PWR: The Cup against Sale, before scoring her maiden try in her 36th Lightning appearance, when she ran home from inside her own half against Leicester Tigers.
