Nelson joined the African Violets in 2019, having previously played for Edinburgh University, Murrayfield Wanderers and had a spell in France playing for Montpellier.

The versatile back is an excellent distributor with excellent footwork and has made Lightning appearances at fly-half, centre and fullback. 

She made her senior international debut for Scotland nine years ago and remains a mainstay, clocking up more than 70 caps heading into the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup squad, which she entered as her country’s vice-captain.
