Four Lightning players picked for Canada clash in Chicago

USA head into their final Pacific Four encounter against Canada with four Loughborough Lightning players in their matchday squad.

The Eagles kicked off their campaign with a loss to New Zealand but bounced back to defeat Australia last time out, and they return to Chicago on Saturday 25 April (kick-off: 1.30am UK) with Alev Kelter and Bulou Mataitoga retained in the backs for a third successive game.

Hooker Kathryn Treder also keeps her place, as does Paige Stathopoulos, who is named amongst the replacements.

USA Head Coach Jack Hanratty, said: “It’s no secret to us – and especially myself, the style and speed of which Canada want to play. We had and still have targets of a top-3 finish in this year's PAC4 tournament. To compete with a top-three team in the world, we have to be at our best for 80 minutes. After Sacramento, we knew we had to make improvements in our rugby IQ backing momentum with momentum.”

The Lightning quartet will come up against a Canada side who have Loughborough Head Coach Nathan Smith operating as their forwards coach during the Pacific Four tournament.
