Lightning launch one-off bespoke pink shirt, sponsored by GRS Group, for Saracens clash

Loughborough Lightning are delighted to confirm that GRS Group will serve as front-of-shirt sponsor for a bespoke limited-edition pink shirt that will be worn for the Premiership Women’s Rugby fixture against Saracens Women.

The league has teamed up with Breast Cancer Now for Round 17 of this season’s competition, when it’s first-ever Big Pink Weekend will be held, which concludes with Lightning’s clash with Saracens at cinch Stadium at Franklin’s Gardens on Sunday 31 May (kick-off: 12pm).

To support the campaign, Lightning will run out for their final home game of the season in a one-off pink kit, with GRS Group – the UK’s leading independent supply chain partner for aggregates, building products, waste recycling and associated services, moving into the prominent front-of-shirt position for the fixture.

In recognition of the importance of the campaign, GRS Group will donate £1,000 to Breast Cancer Now, supporting the charity’s vital work in research and care.

Big Pink Weekend is an initiative led by Premiership Women’s Rugby, uniting clubs, players, and supporters to raise awareness and funds in the fight against breast cancer, with Lightning proud to play their part in the Round 17 showcase fixture,  which is being screened live on TNT Sports.

A limited number of the pink replica shirts will be available to purchase at the match, available in youth, men and women’s sizes. Match-worn shirts will also be auctioned off, with proceedings being donated to the cause.

“We’re incredibly proud to see GRS take on the front-of-shirt position for this fixture,” said Ulundi Makhanya, Director of Commercial Partnerships at Northampton Saints and Loughborough Lightning.

“Big Pink Weekend is an important moment in the Premiership Women’s Rugby calendar, and this fixture provides a fantastic platform to raise awareness for such a vital cause.

“GRS’ willingness to step into the front-of-shirt position, while also donating to Breast Cancer Now, demonstrates their genuine commitment to supporting the women’s game and making a positive impact beyond rugby. We’re delighted to be working with a partner who shares those values.”

GRS, long-standing supporters of Northampton Saints, have continued to expand their support within rugby union through their partnership with Lightning, and this activation further underlines their dedication to the growth of the women’s game.

“We’re honoured to be part of this special fixture,” said Martin Hill, Chairman of GRS Group.

“Big Pink Weekend is a powerful initiative that brings the rugby community together to support a cause that touches so many people. By supporting this match and making a contribution to Breast Cancer Now, we hope to play our part in raising both awareness and funds.

“Our partnership with Loughborough Lightning continues to grow, and we’re proud to support the Club, its players, and the wider Premiership Women’s Rugby community on such an important occasion.”
